Could Hallmark Bring Back Jesse Metcalfe’s Mystery Series?

Right after Hallmark premiered Absolutely Devoted To You starring Jesse Metcalfe and Kimberley Sustad, the network’s Mystery Channel social media revealed that they were airing a Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries marathon.

Needless to say, Sleuthers demanded that the series return.

Firstly, several fans pointed out that viewers never found out who shot Jeff Jackson, Metcalfe’s character.

Moreover, what is next for Jeff and Dr. Zee Madieras, portrayed by Sarah Lind.

In the series, based on the Philip R. Craig novels, Jeff Jackson was a Boston Police Department detective who was forced to retire because he was shot.

However, this cliffhanger was never resolved.

Philip R. Craig was a prolific writer. There is a cornucopia of over 20 books in this series. That means plenty of opportunities for the network to get scripts written and more mysteries made.

Jesse Metcalfe Was Heavily Invested In His Hallmark Mystery Series

Jesse Metcalfe was not only the star of the Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries on Hallmark, he was an executive producer of the series. Therefore, he was heavily invested.

Speaking to the Cape Cod Times, Sergeant James “Jamie” Craig, the son of the late series author, Philip R. Craig, heaped praise on the Christmas Under The Stars actor.

Jesse’s really cool

He reads the books, he loves the character, he loves the way my father wrote the repertoire back and forth between Jeff and Zee. His being passionate about the character really helps.

From the beginning, the John Tucker Must Die star was the perfect actor to portray Jeff.

Hallmark, Metcalfe and Jamie Craig worked together to make the book series work for the network.

This really paid off. All four movies have earned high sixes on IMDb. While the network’s top series, Mystery 101, has averaged low sevens, this series has a favorable rating amongst Sleuthers. It is very comparable to Garage Sale Mysteries, which went on a six year hiatus and is returning in September.

Now that Michelle Vicary has returned to Hallmark, could she bring back Jesse’s series?

After years of waiting, Lifetime has announced that there will be two new Buried In Barstow movies starring Angie Harmon. She portrays former hit woman, turned waitress and diner shop owner Hazel King.

According to Deadline, two two sequel films have the working titles of Blood For Blood and The Reckoning.

Best of all, they confirmed the return of Hallmark Hunk Kristoffer Polaha, who portrays love interest Elliot. This mysterious character turned out to be a former doctor who lost his career due to a tragedy.

in addition, Lauren Ashley Richards is back as Joy, Hazel’s daughter.

There are two new people added to the cast. Firstly, Megan Follows, who was recently in The Way Home, portrays Zadie. She is described as “the enigmatic matriarch of a powerful construction family whose interests in Barstow soon intersect with Hazel’s in increasingly dangerous ways.”

Lastly, Finley Sehorn, Angie Harmon’s daughter, is set to portrays young Hazel.
