For the past two weeks, Andrew W. Walker has been making the rounds on national media and with Hallmarkcentric content creators to promote his new May For Moms movie Kentucky Roses. However, Sleuthers want to know what is happening with Curious Caterer, Andrew’s mystery series with Nikki DeLoach.
Andrew portrays Detective Tom Schultz and Nikki Goldy Berry. There are five movies in the series with the last one airing two years ago. Sleuthers have been waiting a long time for news, let alone a new movie in this popular mystery series.
The good news is that the Three Wisest Men star recently shared some new information and insights on what is happening with Curious Caterer, as well as Hallmark mysteries in general.
Here is what he had to say.
Andrew Walker On Future Of Curious Caterer
Andrew Walker was recently on the Crown Chats podcast, promoting his new Hallmark movie Kentucky Roses.
Haley, the host of Crown Chats with Andrew Walker episode asked for “Any updates to share on the development or progress of the Curious Caterer series?”
Clearly a fan of this mystery series based on the Diane Mott Davidson mysteries, she revealed that she previously spoke to Nikki DeLoach about the series.
Andrew first asked if Nikki had previously shared anything. The response was that Nikki told her “they were still in talks that there would be at least another movie or two.” Haley also added that if the series would end, it would “end with a wedding.”
Next, Andrew clarified that Nikki was more knowledgeable about the status of the series. However, he assured Haley that they were in “constant communication with the network. They want to make another movie.
Hallmark Has Been Going Through Changes
Andrew Walker shared that although the network knows “how important” Curious Caterer is, they have been going through a “reshuffle.”
I think just with the streaming platform launch and some restructuring over there and the unscripted reshuffle as well…I think they’re try to find what is working on linear and what’s working on the streaming platform.
He continued that once the network can put out such new mini series like the new one, Paris Is Always A Good Idea, which stars Lacey Chabert, they will better “understand what their performance is.”
After that data analysis, he believes that mysteries like Curious Caterer will return.
It should be noted there does not appear to be any sort of timeline revealed here. Right now, the television industry is going through a lot of changes with mergers and more people are leaving cable and using streaming services.
Currently, it appears that Hallmark is trying to figure out how to make it work during this time of lower cable numbers and building up their streaming service, Hallmark+, with such original series as Hope Valley: 1874.
Curious Caterer Is Popular Series In Walker Household
Haley pointed out that when there is a Curious Caterer marathon, Sleuthers ask when the new movie will be out. It is no secret that two scripts have been written and ready to film.
Although there were plans to film these movies in 2025, they were put on hold. This has disappointed Hallmark fans and the stars of the mystery series alike. Everyone loves this new series.
Furthermore, this was his son West’s favorite work of his. West, Andrew, and Cassandra Walker’s oldest son, loved it cause “there was blood,” and “could get spooky and fun.”
West is not the only Walker who enjoys it. Andrew shared that he loved the characters and hopes Hallmark could bring the series back sooner than later.
Therefore, Andrew encourages Sleuthers to “Keep talking about it.”
Keep putting it out there in the world because Hallmark does listen to the fans and they will bring it back if enough people make enough noise about it.
Sounds like it is time for Sleuthers to make some noise!
