Midsomer Murders Season 26 has started filming. Back in November, Mystery and Romance TV confirmed that the long-running British Mystery series was coming back for another season.

Now, they have officially started production. Here are the latest details.

Midsomer Murders Season 26 Production Already Started

On Monday, the official Midsomer Murders Instagram account shared a photo of Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrick announcing that Season 26 is officially in production.

CI Barnaby and DS Winter are officially back on the case!

Filming for Series 26 of Midsomer Murders has officially begun, starting with a brand-new mystery 🤔🎬

Although the announcement was on March 16, the clapboard shared that filming was on March 9, for the episode entitled “Mindful To Murder.” The director is Paul Gibson.

However, at this time, there is no information on who the guest stars are or what this mystery is about.

Over the years, there have been a lot of cast changes on Midsomer Murders. Who is returning for Season 26?

It looks like Season 26 will be the same lead cast since Season 20. That means Neil Dudgeon is reprising his role as DCI Barnaby, Nick Hendrix as DS Jamie Winter, Annette Badland as sassy pathologist Dr. Fleur Perkins, and Fiona Dolman as Sarah Barnaby.

When Will Midsomer Murders Season 26 Premiere?

As of now, there is no projected Season 26 premiere date. It seems likely that the upcoming season will be 4 episodes. Traditionally, it takes about a month to film each episode. That would mean they would be done filming by early July, unless they take an extra break or if filming is paused for any unexpected reason.

It seems likely that Acorn TV will drop Season 26 in the late fall/early winter of 2026, and ITV sometime in 2027.

Mystery and Romance TV will continue to report on the new season with any updates or announcements. We cannot wait!
