Hallmark’s six-episode limited series Twelve Dates ‘Til Christmas is not like their typical content. Although it has all the hallmarks of a cozy holiday romcom, it is more than that. This is a series that takes viewers on a satisfying journey.
This new holiday series stars Mae Whitman, Julian Morris, Nathanial Parker, Jane Seymour, Lucy Eaton, Mary McDonnell, and Toby Sandeman.
Based on the Jenny Bayless novel, Kate (Whitman) is coerced into doing a holiday-themed matchmaking event called the 12 Dates Of Christmas. However, it turns out that this is more of a personal journey into self-discovery.
The series begins with Kate in a rut. Although she has a really cool job as a pattern artist at a top Saville Row establishment, she has lost her passion for art.
What is keeping her occupied is her concern for her father–who lives just next door. Her father Mac (Parker) is recovering from hip surgery after a motorcycle accident. Kate nags him about doing his exercises and going out.
Meanwhile, her loving, but meddling best pal Laura (Eaton) wants her to get out and find someone. As Kate begrudgingly follows through and participates in the holiday matchmaking extravaganza.
However, what really happens is that she goes on a journey to find her true self.
Mae Whitman Had A Great Time Filming Hallmark Limited Series
Mae Whitman has been acting for four decades. However, filming Hallmark’s limited series Twelve Dates ‘Til Christmas was her first after having her baby son.
Whitman went to Instagram to share her experience.
t’s funny; it’s almost strangely painful for me to write this post because looking back through all these pictures gives me the deepest ache of love and missing this place and these people and this project. We filmed 12 dates just a couple months after I’d had my son and I was in such a vulnerable beautiful fragile state and the people of Ireland welcomed me so generously and lovingly into their arms that I ended up having what was truly one of the most amazing filming experiences of my entire career. Every single person involved with this show was so talented at their jobs that it allowed us to incorporate fun and laughter and kindness and patience into our every day working ethos which takes real teamwork and a group who sincerely wants what’s best for each other, which to me is the most rare and most treasured thing. I made friends with people I consider family for life and will always be deeply grateful for making my first filming experience as a mother so positive and joyous. We made something we’re all really proud of and can’t wait to share it with you!!!! I miss all my yer mans and yer-ones and the joy of swimming in the magical Irish Sea every day and anxiously awaiting the day I can return but until then I’m glad we get to show the world our special show!! Theme fridays forever! An rud is annamh is iontach ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ watch twelve dates til Christmas this Friday December 5th on @hallmarkchannel
