Hallmark’s Hannah Swensen Mysteries, starring Alison Sweeney, Barbara Niven, and Victor Webster, have been one of the network’s top mystery series since the premiere of Murder She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery just over a decade ago.
Although there was a four-year hiatus, and a name change, as well as a main character exit, this series is still based on the popular Joanne Fluke cozy mystery series.
However, Sleuthers have been concerned that Hallmark is canceling all of their mystery movies.
Now, there is some news that should make these cozy mystery fans happy.
New ‘Hannah Swensen’ Listed In Industry Publication
Sleuthers who have been wondering about Hallmark’s plan for mysteries recently got some good news. According to Production Weekly, there is a new mystery in the series that will go into production. This is called Kitchen Expert: A Hannah Swensen Mystery.
So far, there is very little information on the details of this mystery, except that casting director and producer Jackie Lind is currently casting for this production. All of the other movies in this mystery series were filmed in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It could be assumed that they will be filming there again.
An official Hallmark Media announcement and details on which book they are basing this mystery on is forthcoming.
However, this is not the only upcoming Hannah Swensen Mystery that Sleuthers can look forward to. Back in November 2025, they filmed Murder At The Masquerade. Peter Benson is the director. In addition, at the Christmas Experience, Barbara Niven and Victor Webster teased this upcoming movie.
However, Hallmark has not announced any mysteries for 2026. As Alison is starring in the upcoming Loveuary movie Romance At Hope Ranch with her Hannah Swensen co-star, Gabriel Hogan, it seems like a good opportunity for the network to premiere this movie.
The network did just that last June, when the two Barcelona movies came out. The network premiered Pie To Die For, which was a bonus for Alison Sweeney fans.
Sleuthers Are Confused By ‘Cooked To Death’
Next, the big question is about the movie Cooked To Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. There is some unfortunate published misinformation, including IMDb and Wikipedia, that shows that this movie is still in the can and waiting to air alongside a couple of True Justice and Haunted Harmony mystery movies.
This movie was the original title for Reality Bites: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. This was filmed along with Pie To Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery in the Autumn of 2024. Furthermore, Hallmark premiered both of these mysteries in 2025.
In addition, the Cooked To Death synopsis shares that Hannah is going to marry Ross. Who is Ross? Hallmark took several movies to get Hannah and Chad on a date and share a kiss. They are not about to throw in a new guy, and have the baker/sleuth get married to him without a minimum of 10 movies!
This synopsis is based on the book. I have been fortunate enough to interview Ali Sweeney on several occasions. As many Sleuthers know, she has written several movies and is the executive producer. She has revealed on more than one occasion that she will put in Easter eggs from the Joanne Fluke series for those fans. The Hallmark movies are very different, but with the addition of Victor Webster, after Cameron Mathison left for GAF, this change somewhat addresses Hannah’s messy love life that is prominent in the books.
Therefore, there are no unaired Hannah Swensen Mysteries, except for Murder At The Masquerade, which was filmed late last year. Along with Kitchen Expert, Sleuthers may want to know when, and on which platform the network will air these new movies.
Hopefully, Hallmark Media will soon share news that solves those mysteries.
