Lynley Season 2 has started production! According to The Futon Critic, the BritBox series starring Leo Suter (Vikings: Valhalla) and Sofia Barclay (Ted Lasso) has begun production in Dublin.
Leo Suter is back as DI Tommy Lynley, and Sofia Barclay as DS Barbara Havers. Based on the international bestselling Elizabeth George novels, this detective pair comes from opposite sides of life, but compliments each other’s skill set. Tommy drives a flash car and comes from privilege. Meanwhile, Havers has a reputation for never getting along with her partner. The two are like oil and water. However, they create a formidable crime-solving team.
New Cast Joining Lynley Season 2
The BritBox detective series Lynley will have some new faces in Season 2. Here are the names:
- Deidre Mullins (Bad Sisters) is Chief Superintendent Isabelle Artery, the new head of the Three Counties CID.
- Sara Stewart (Transformers) is Countess of Asherton and Lynley’s mother.
- Assad Zaman (Interview With The Vampire) is Zain Chaudhry, Haver’s new neighbor, who is a charity worker.
In addition, Daniel Mays (The Thursday Murder Club) is back as Chief Inspector Brian Nies, and Michael Workeye (The Moment) is back as DS Tony Bekele.
Preview Of Lynley Season 2 Storylines
BritBox has already released the synopsis for Lynley Season 2. Tommy Lynley will be dealing with his complicated upper crust family. Meanwhile, Barbara Havers is confidently moving forward.
In Season Two of Lynley, the mismatched duo of Detective Inspector Tommy Lynley and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers return to investigate another series of complex and compelling crimes – from a suspicious death at an elite horse racing estate, to violent protests at a Cambridge university, to a mysterious suicide on an Essex military base.
As the cases unfold, Lynley confronts lingering ties to his estranged aristocratic family and the allure of a formidable new Chief Superintendent in the Three Counties precinct. Meanwhile, Havers pursues a newfound independence and ambition that test her professional and personal boundaries like never before. Together, Lynley and Havers continue to build on their hard-earned mutual respect, relying on each other to solve cases that strike dangerously close to home.
No Season 2 premiere date has been announced. It seems very probable that the second season will premiere later in 2026.
Lastly, Season 1 is available to stream on BritBox. In addition, the OG series, The Inspector Linley Mysteries starring Nathanial Parker and Sharon Smalls is also available to stream on BritBox. This excellent series ran between 2001-2007 and is a must-see for all detective mystery and Elizabeth George fans.
