According to the network’s synopsis, “Emilia’s (Henstridge) past returns with a vengeance when her ex-fiancé, Franklin Trask (Kris Mochrie, Ordinary Lies), rents out the island for a VIP weekend with his wife, football-star brother, and high-powered finance crew. A suspiciously quick game solve raises red flags––but the real shock. comes the following morning, when a guest turns up dead and Emilia becomes the prime suspect. When Will The Hallmark Channel Premiere ‘Play For Keeps’?
The premiere of Mystery Island: Play For Keeps is on Sunday, August 17, at 9 p.m. Eastern, on the Hallmark Channel. The Hallmark Mystery premiere is on Friday, August 22, at 8 p.m. Eastern. Hallmark is now premiering mysteries on the OG channel on Sunday nights, and on the mystery channel on the Friday night afterward.
In addition, Mystery Island: Play For Keeps will be available to stream on Hallmark+ starting on Monday, August 18.
Other Movies In The ‘Mystery Island’ Series
There are two other mysteries in Hallmark’s Mystery Island series. Firstly, there is the pilot episode. In this mystery, Sleuthers meet Dr. Emilia Priestly (Henstridge). She works for the London Police as a psychiatrist. However, work has been quite stressful. She has been working with a killer who has touched a nerve.
Thankfully, Emilia’s friend, Baroness Jane Alcott (Kezia Burrows), has a relaxing solution. Janie invites Emilia to a murder-mystery-themed resort called Mystery Island. The Baroness is one of the original investors and this particular mystery is a special event for all of the original investors. However, the mystery fun gets deadly! The reclusive founder has been murdered!
Now, Emilia works alongside Detective Jason Trent (Weber) to solve this perplexing case.
The second movie is Mystery Island: Winner Takes All. Emilia is back on the island with Jason and Janie. This time, the island is hosting a cornucopia of contest winners. Who will solve the complex mystery? Things get complicated when a member of the staff is murdered!
This mystery also stars Signed, Sealed, Delivered star Kristin Booth.
Both the pilot and Winner Takes All are currently available to stream on Hallmark+.
Who Will Enjoy ‘Mystery Island’?
The Mystery Island movies are a Hallmark homage to Agatha Christie. Fans of the White Lotus also have enjoyed the quirky characters. There is almost no violence or gore in these mysteries. These are very clever movies that are entertaining and fun to watch!
