Sleuthers who have been waiting for Hallmark to premiere its first mystery of 2026 will finally get their wish. The feel-good network has added Nelly Knows Mystery: All Manners Of Murder to the March schedule.
This is the second movie in the series that stars two big When Calls The Heart fan-favorites, Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith. Both Hearties and Sleuthers have been anticipating this mystery.
However, all fans of the network may be surprised by the day of the week this movie will premiere.

‘Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners Of Murder’ Coming To The Hallmark Channel
Sleuthers who have been waiting for a new mystery are finally getting their wish. According to the network’s website, Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners Of Murder will be premiering on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, March 14, at 8 p.m. Eastern.
That’s right. This mystery will air on a Saturday night, on the OG. This is a new night for mysteries. The network has tried premiering mysteries on Thursday or Friday nights on the Hallmark Mystery Channel. Then last June, they premiered Pie To Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery on a Sunday night, on the Hallmark Channel.
Now, the network is premiering this new mystery on Saturday night. This is very surprising. This could even disappoint romcom fans, as if they continue in this manner, there could be half a dozen less romcoms in 2026.
Furthermore, this is so unusual as last year, the three royal movies premiered in March. They all had better ratings than 22 of the 24 2025 Countdown To Christmas movies.
It is hard to know what the network is thinking. They may be giving their mysteries the best possible opportunity to get good ratings by premiering on a Saturday night. That said, will Sleuthers know to go there to watch? The network has not done itself many favors by changing days and even channels in one year’s time.
Then again, romcom fans may be very disappointed if this trend continues. The 2026 Winter Escape movies have been great, and the Loveuary movies look very promising. Why they are making this change is puzzling, unless they plan to add more original romcom content on Hallmark+ as an incentive to garner more subscribers.

Nelly and Detective Michael set out to solve the murder of a guest while at a lavish dinner.
Pascale Hutton stars in this mystery as advice columnist Nelly Parker. Stargate Atlantis alum Kavan Smith plays Detective Michael Hogan. Another Stargate Atlantis alum, Paul McGillion, portrays Hue Spenser. In addition, Markian Tarasiuk portrays Eli Flint in this movie, and Veronica Long as Fiona.
David I. Strasser (The Wish Swap) is once again the director. Lastly, Katherine Wagner wrote this screenplay, as well as the first mystery, which was her first screenplay.
The first movie in the series, Nelly Knows Mysteries: A Fatal Engagement, is currently streaming on Hallmark+.
