Hallmark Making New ‘Hannah Swensen Mystery’ Starring Alison Sweeney
Sleuthers who have been disappointed by the lack of Hallmark mysteries in 2025 should feel a sense of relief with the latest news. According to industry publication Creative BC, Murder At The Masquerade: A Hannah Swensen Mystery starts production on November 11. That means that the 2026 schedule should include a new mystery.
However, it should be noted that Hallmark Media has not yet made a former announcement.
The new industry post reveals that the production schedule is between November 11-28. Furthermore, Peter Benson is directing this mystery movie. Benson, who is known as a star of the popular Aurora Teagarden Mysteries has been busy in the director’s chair. The first of his Countdown To Christmas 2025 movies, A Royal Montana Christmas, kicked off the annual holiday programming.
This new mystery movie will be the thirteenth in the popular series based on the Joanne Fluke cozy novels. This movie will be based on Red Velvet Cupcake Murder.
What Is ‘Murder At The Masquerade: A Hannah Swensen Mystery’ About?
Hallmark appears to be going into production with a new mystery, Murder At The Masquerade: A Hannah Swensen Myster in early November. Although it is based on the Red Velvet Cupcake Murder, here is what the synopsis says:
Lake Eden’s heat wave has baker Hannah Swensen sweating—until a cold-blooded crime chills the town. At a hotel grand opening, a police employee falls from the penthouse, and a woman who dislikes Hannah turns up dead. Now the prime suspect, Hannah must find the killer to clear her name.
Starring in Hannah Swensen is Alison Sweeney, as the baker-sleuth, Barbara Niven, as Delores, her meddling and dramatic mother, Victor Webster as Chad Norton the local prosecuting attorney. Whether Gabriel Hogan will return as Norman, pal and Delores’ dream date for Hannah, remains to be seen. Furthermore, Sleuthers love Hannah’s sisters, Lisa Durupt as Andrea, and Tess Akins as Michelle. It remains to be seen if either or both will be part of this upcoming mystery.
When Is ‘Cooked To Death’ Premiering?
One question that many Sleuthers may ask is when Cooked To Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery will premiere. It is still listed on IMDb and more than one publication has mentioned that this is the thirteenth movie in the series that was formerly called Murder She Baked.
Cooked To Death was renamed Reality Bites. That was one of two Hannah Swensen Mysteries that Hallmark premiered in 2025. It is not unusual for a name change in this series.
